Marc Hourican is the Chief Technology Officer at CleanArc Data Centers.

Marc Hourican drives the technological evolution of next-generation data center infrastructure as Chief Technology Officer at CleanArc Datacenters. Under his leadership, CleanArc has pioneered the development of AI-ready datacenters at scale, directly addressing the explosive growth in both IT demand and density that challenges our industry.

Before joining CleanArc, Marc held leadership positions at leading data center consultancy firms Orchard Green Associates, Smith Engineering, PLLC and Syska Hennessy Group. Marc takes pride in understanding the technical and cultural nuances required for project execution across geographies. At CleanArc, he takes a collaborative and comprehensive approach to project management and execution, bridging the gaps between infrastructure and design/construction teams as CleanArc works to deliver best-in-class reliability, sustainability, supply chain management and capital efficiency during the entire data center life cycle. Marc holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and an MS in Real Estate from the NYU Shack Institute of Real Estate.

As CTO, Marc orchestrates the integration of engineering, supply chain, commissioning, and operations team expertise into the product road map.  His strategic vision has been part of the CleanArc DNA from its initial formation in 2022 and remains a key driver of both technological approach and market strategy.

Marc’s most significant achievement lies in developing CleanArc’s datacenter prototype, the OMNI datacenter. This design is the result of several years of market analysis, technology mapping, partner collaboration, and design optimization to provide best-in-class reliability and speed to market while maintaining complete flexibility to support an array of cloud and AI-type technology deployments.

Prior to joining CleanArc, Marc held progressive technology leadership roles at Syska Hennessy Group, where he architected data center designs for enterprise, colocation, and cloud deployments, and at Digital Realty, where he was part of the global Sales Engineering team. Starting his datacenter career in 2002, his expertise spans datacenter design, construction, commissioning, and operations, and his experience spans multiple generations of datacenter development.

Marc earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, where his concentration was design for manufacturing, and his MS in Real Estate from NYU, where his concentration was finance.  Marc is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and holds certifications in reliability engineering, commissioning, and sustainable operations.

His leadership philosophy centers on building resilient, intelligent developments that anticipate tomorrow’s computational demands while minimizing environmental and community impact today. Under his guidance, CleanArc has committed to providing the datacenter of tomorrow, today.
