Proposals for clean energy projects were submitted in response to CleanArc’s RFP
October 17, 2023 [HOUSTON, TX] – CleanArc Data Centers (“CleanArc”) today announced that over 40 leading wind, solar and battery storage developers participated in CleanArc’s renewable resource RFP. CleanArc received more than 3 GW of project proposals in response to the request for proposals (RFP) launched this summer. The RFP sought proposals from qualified renewable energy developers for the purchase of renewable wind, solar and battery storage resources to support CleanArc’s hyperscale data center campuses under development.
CleanArc is now reviewing the proposals for projects located in the ERCOT and PJM power markets. CleanArc intends to issue a short list of preferred projects by the end of 2023. Selected projects will be invited to negotiate power purchase agreements with CleanArc’s data center customers in 2024.
Data centers are a key driver of increasing power demand. At the same time, the world’s largest hyperscalers have the ambition to lead in the world’s transition to a zero-carbon grid by incentivizing the development of new renewable energy projects in the regions where they operate, contributing to lower-carbon grids.
Jim Trout, Founder & CEO, CleanArc Data Centers, said, “CleanArc is changing the future of data center power, and the robust response from clean energy developers to our RFP supports our ability to deliver on our mission. The world’s largest hyperscalers’ demand for new data center capacity is outstripping their ability to develop new data centers internally. We are designing our hyperscale data centers to meet our customers’ demand for innovative clean energy contract structures.”
